[EN] Taking the advantage of beautiful weather, we decided to climb the Springer Mountain, where the Appalachian Trail starts in Georgia. This Trail extends from Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine. It is approximately 2,181 miles (3,510 km) long. We have been in this area several times, notably in the Amicalola Falls State Park. The park is home to Amicalola Falls, a 729-foot (222 m) waterfall, making it the highest in Georgia. An eight-mile (13 km) trail that winds past Amicalola Falls leads to Springer Mountain, famous for being the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. As we did not have enough time to take this trail, we drove on gravel roads to a Forestry Service parking lot that is just 0.9 mile (1.44 km) from Springer Mountain.
