1am still blogging again! At least we are in a warm hotel
Day 5 - Lommel to Arnhem
Morning has broken outside the hotel in Lommel
Our chief mechanic Neil could not find his keys when we left the hotel - look where Sim found them!
Our hotel
Neil completing the daily checks on the Jeep in preparation for our journey to Arnhem
Off we go!
Valkenswaard British Cemetery
Inside this small building there was a roe of honour listing all the soldiers resting at this site and a visitors book.
Valkenswaard British Cemetery
First stop of the day - Valkenswaard British Cemetery. Some of the soldiers here were killed in the very spot of the cemetary during Operation Market Garden, the ground faze.

Hitting the road to Arnhem!
Day 5 - Lommel to Arnhem
We found these planes in the driveway and garden of a factory outlet shop
Day 5 - Lommel to Arnhem
Heading for Eindhoven
Memorial for the US 101st Airbourne Division that landed in Eindhoven during Opertation Market Garden.
Day 5 - Lommel to Arnhem
Neil hiding behind a bush - don't worry he's trying to set up a camera shot!
This memorial includes a very clever map that shows where the 101st dropped. It shows the roads, canals and objectives
We think we also saw one of the names that was included in the Band of Brothers mini-series - PFc James Miller.

Grave Bridge
vDay 5 - Lommel to Arnhem.
The bunker was built in 1936 by the Dutch to defend against the Germans if they invaded.
Grave Bridge
The bunker itself.
This bunker was on the other side of the road from the previous bunker. The painting was to hide the real guns when the enemy was spying from a distance.
Grave bridge memorial
Neil is really dedicated to our filiming!!
Quite an amazing feeling when you travel through it. Apart from the paint, this is still the original bridge which was built by the Germans in 1941
Heading into Arnhrm
Day 5 - Lommel to Arnhem.
Arrival at the camp site, and yes, they did not have our booking so we were concerned that it was going to be another night of camp site searching! But, they had plenty of room at the Inn so we set up camp and Neil and Sim started fixing a leaking manifold gasket.
Ian sets to work on the blog....
