Yi and I at the trailhead.
The first few steps of Morgan Trail.
Taking a short water break.
My darling Yi.
It's all mine! Good thing I brought an extra liter of water. It still wasn't enough.
Hot and sweaty. Time to turnaround.
The two of us.
View down Morrell Canyon.
Trail in good condition here. Bicycles prohibited.
Horses okay. Watch out for droppings.
Heading back to the car.
Chaparral here. HOT, even in April!
Shady section of the trail.
Native oaks only found along the creeks here.

Yi and I took a day trip on the Ortega Highway (SR-74) through the Santa Ana Mountains to Lake Elsinore from Orange County. Along the way we took a side trip down down South Main Divide Road (Killen Truck Trail) to the trailhead of the Morgan Trail which starts near Lion Spring at the headwaters of Morrell Creek and beginning of Morrell Canyon. We hiked in a couple of kilometers and back, had lunch and continued to Lake Elsinore to check out the outlet stores.
