We arrived to an overcast day, unfortunately!
It's a modern city, sort-of with the feel of San Francisco
We visited a truly-incredible museum today.
Our special Virtuoso group visited with us.
New Zealand natives are called Maori. They arrived in New Zealand from eastern Polynesia.
These are like totem poles.
The world's largest squid was caught in New Zealand!
A quick city shot taken from the museum
Another city shot of Wellington, not too sunny though today
New Zealand has two languages: English and the Maori language. A marae is a gated-entrance to a Maori village. Rongomaraeroa is a special gate created by artists for the museum. Barack Obama passed through it as part of a cermony in Wellington.
Wood carvings...which I suppose you need to be here to appreciate!
This may be the things that nightmares of made of, but, actually, this is a colorful and pleasant symbol.
Not quite the Seabourn Sojourn, but impressive enough on its own
Making way to our special lunch
We were treated to a special lunch at the home of Ruth Pretty, a New Zealand celebrity chef
Well, it's art!
A special menu for us.
Duck salad to start, followed by New Zealand lamb, and a berry dessert.
I think he's ready to eat
Yes, Mark is hungry too!
Many great catering menus came out of here!
Ralph with one of our fellow passengers
Fresh, New Zealand lamb with beets and vegetables. It was really, really delicious.
The moment that all were waiting for
Fresh berries in a glaze, with a sorbet.
While we didn't over-eat today (we are trying to control our portions), we ate very well!
Yum?
Catering Kitchen
A babbling brook surrounded our lunch spot.
Ruth does it all!
