Old locks @ Sankey Bridges
There is a sandstone ridge that runs North South across the River Mersey. South of the Mersey there is a long distance footpath along it called the sandstone way.
I normally ride this un-surfaced road flat out at about 40-50km/h. Today I took it a bit easy
I didn't realise how much ice there was until I stopped. At least 3-5cm of solid sheet ice.
Apppleton Reservior
Apppleton Reservior
There is a submerged outlet from this reservior at the end of this pier. Every year local kids use it to dive off. Every couple of years, one of them gets pulled under. This happened in 2010 and his tie and shirt are left as a memorial.
Highest point in Warrington
You might ask why the picture, but when there are so few bridleways in the area you have to record it.
Today decided not to ride down these, but it may have been the wrong decision as I still fell over (-;
West coast mainline crossing the river mersey. I have another photo of the same rail line crossing the river weaver on another trip.

The weather for the last week has been snow and sub-zero temperatures. Yesterday the temperature rose and there was a thaw and light rain for a few hours. Overnight the temperature dropped and went sub-zero. It was -5C when I started riding.

In the summer this ride takes me less than 50 minutes, today it took an hour longer.
