Not very large. Separate upstair room for women.
We met an elderly gentlemen and his son from the U.S. He came from Europe and was in a concentration camp during the war. Very touching.

There was much damage (all now repaired) from the 1992 Yugoslave war. Croatia split from that along with Bosnia, etc.

There were three ways to get up to the city from the water - donkey, walking up (on the donkey path), or cable car. Guesss which way we went.

This is still an active volcano and could go off any time.
It seemed as though every home in Catania (at the base of the mountain) had a balcony. Maybe it was for viewing the lava flow during an eruption??
