Due to the threat of landslides, many people use landscaping to help protect their houses and land. Here, I loved what the land owner did.
As you can see, this area of Malibu has many, many large houses complete with swimming pools, tennis courts, and any other amenities they want.
The day was pretty clear, so I was able to see miles.
GPS isn't an exact science, so the map might look like I'm wondering, but in reality, I was sticking to the trail.
The brown sign off to the right signifies the start of the trail.
At several different times, my creek crossings looked like this, some wider, some more narrow.
The wrong trail.
Eventhough here, I'm on the wrong trail, I found what looked like an old engine, and I couldn't resist taking a couple of shots. I'm not sure why rust is such an attraction, but I know a couple of other photographers who feel the same way I do about it.
I'm lovin' this view
I love looking at the way the plants and rocks interact. I'm always amazed at nature and how she is able to keep up with the climate.
On the Trail
Red Rock
This trail meanders along a small creek. As I walked, I could hear its sounds. From here, you have no idea civilization is so close.
Babbling Brook
Even though LA recently had several days of rain, it hasn't caught up to the land yet. I've seen pictures of these falls with much more water falling.

Maybe when I come back in March or April, after the rainy season is over, it will be more robust.
As I started snapping a few pictures, a couple with their dog arrived at the Falls. The dog loved gettng a little wet.
Although at first glance, the Falls were a little disappointing, as I sat there, listening to the water, I realized that seeing a bigger falls would have been nice, but it was just as nice to relax to the sounds of small water, too.
This gentleman is the dog's owner, looking up to see the top of the falls.
I have a special fasination with the roots of trees and how they find their water.
Here, I'm playing a litle with my camera. I've always admired some of the waterfall shots I'm seen where the water kind of stops.

Because I didn't have a tripod with me, there is some camera shake in this shot, but for the first go around, I was pretty happy with the results.

Oh, BTW, this is just a very small babble in the brook, not the water fall.
I was really attacted to the running water, so I took a few shots.
I've found so many differently shaped trees here, it's amazing.

Off in the Distance
As you can see by the footprints, I'm not the only one using this trail. Horse and mountain bike marks were also found, although I didn't see any on this hike.
I was surprised to see a picnic table and garbage can so far off the beaten path. I wasn't too far into the trail when these showed up, but it's still over a mile at this point.
Oh, no, a fork in the road, and I'm not sure which way to go. The homemade arrows aren't too clear, but at least it's something.

Of course, I made the wrong choice and headed up the road. However, I didn't go too far before I realized my mistake.
